WACKY CANOE RACES
June 20, 2024
11:00am
Waterbury State Park
177 Reservoir Rd
Waterbury Center, VT 05677
Come join us for an old family camp tradition - the wacky canoe races! The overall goal is to have fun but competitive vibes are also welcome. You’re welcome to participate or simply observe from the water (note the races will NOT be viewable from the shore). Umiak Outdoor Outfitters - Waterbury Reservoir Outpost has plenty of boats to choose from (paddleboards and kayaks).
Please plan to be there at 10:45am for a short safety demo by the Umiak crew and we will announce the teams. We’ll then paddle out to the course at 11:00am, which gives us time to set up snacks and drinks at the shoreline nearby. Intermission at 12:30pm. Intermission will include some small snacks and beverages on the shore, followed by the final races wrapping at 2:00pm. Read more here about why we call them wacky here!

What has now become a Cromwell - McConnell wedding tradition, we will be holding a ‘friendly’ Pickleball Knock-Out Tournament. Pickleball takes all-comers, no matter your experience level, but in case you’re new to the game, we will have plenty of experienced Pickleball pundits on-hand to help you learn the rules and master the sport in one single afternoon. Feel free to also research rules ahead time. If you’re not up for playing; spectating, encouraging and playful banter is always welcomed.
